Tears, Fears, and Smears
Management, or their hired union busting lawyer, will use your empathy against you, scare you, and smear the union. Below are some resources that explain and rebuke their arguments. Innoculate yourself and your coworkers from their anti-worker propoganda!
“We Are A Family”
Management will try to proclaim “we are a family” when rumblings of a union begin. If you are a family, are they the parents? Are you the children? Do you want to be treated like a child at work?
Token Improvements
Token improvements can look like firing a hated manager, a small bonus, or even a small raise. That can be a good sign! But don’t stop before getting those changes enshrined in a union contract.
“We Didn’t Know It Was This Bad”
Bosses will beg and plead for a second chance when workers form a union. They’ll claim ignorance and promise to turn over a new leaf. Don’t fall for their crocodile tears! If they were being real with you, they would voluntarily recognize the union.
